General Millwright – Electrical Background Manufacturing

Reports To: Paper Mill Plant Manager/Maintenance Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To provide support for the paper mill and maintenance department and electrical projects including, but not limited to, installation, troubleshooting, and panel building and testing of electrical components. Candidate must be able to perform varied mechanical duties such as, but not limited to, rebuild and repair of paper mill machinery. Always works in a safe manner following BPC and OSHA safety recommendations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

1. Read and interpret blueprints.
2. Performs repair, rebuild, overhaul, and new build of manufacturing and service equipment from blueprints, company manufacturing manuals, and/or written or verbal instruction. Practices lock out tag out procedures per OSHA and BPC guidelines. Works effectively with other tradespersons such as millwrights, electricians, pipefitters, etc.
3. Perform electrical installations, repairs, and service equipment per NEC and NFPA codes. Should be familiar with 480-volt power distribution (CB’s, fused disconnect, panel boards, etc.) and with motor starters.
4. Install, startup, and maintain electric drives, single loop controllers, analytical instrumentation, PLC’s and large computer controlled systems such as web inspection systems or Quality Control Systems.
5. Install conduit, pull and terminate wire/cable per electrical elementaries, Build and test electrical panels.
6. Utilize a personal computer with applicable software to troubleshoot and optimize equipment.
7. Set up and test production equipment under power using proper safety PPE, testing for electrical problems, and making corrections as needed.
8. Responsible for cleanup of work area(s) at the end of each day.
9. Notifies supervisor of any potentially dangerous situations and documents all corrective action taken.
10. This person will function as a general millwright at the discretion of mill management.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Overtime is required, this position will also require tour work, evening or night shifts on a temporary or permanent basis and must respond to call-ins at odd hours on a 24hr/7 day a week basis. Days off will be assigned. Shift work and holidays may be required.

2. Must use all safety equipment that is required and observe all safety rules. Will be required to supply hand tools.

3. Must be willing to do work that requires climbing and working at various heights.

4. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

5. Availability to travel may be required.

6. Must be willing to further education through training and seminars.

7. Testing of individual skills will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in industrial or commercial millwright and/or electrical trades for at least 2 years.

2. Working knowledge of the National Electric Code preferred.

3. Works with power driven equipment; overhaul and repair work may involve assignments in overhead structures or work beneath machinery. Frequent stooping and bending required.

4. Works with materials where possibility of damage or spoilage is costly.

5. Close attention to detail is required to prevent damage to complex equipment. High mental and visual effort is required.

6. Satisfactory company work record, including attendance.
